I do agree with John Mayer that Twitter appears to have hit its “cruising altitude”. It has hit its peak with a wave of celebrities coming on and I don’t believe that there will be another surge of new users unless Twitter start innovating quick. Facebook has always been able to come out with new features that continually keep us interested and coming back for more every day. Largely b/c they are constantly pushing the envelope and introducing things that we thought we would never want or need (ie. friend feed). Twitter needs to up its game and start introducing new features that will appeal to the masses.
Last week in Los Angeles I participated in a live Q&A as part of an ASCAP expo on songwriting. When the topic of Twitter came up, I explained my waning interest in it being part of my daily life. By no means do I think it’s over as a medium altogether, but I do think that the days of “Twitter: The…
